Dan is one of my co-workers who will be performing in the U.S. Air Guitar Championships coming to San Francisco next week.

At the Independent on May 11, for a mere $12 you can watch the finest air guitarists in the region do what they do best -- uh, whatever that is -- or you can register to compete amongst locals who take playing invisible instruments very seriously. I personally know there's no shortage of those. These are regionals; sadly, the nationals will be held on June 22 in New York (though you can still register to compete here). But even if you can't make it, or your special invisible Kahler Tremolo System on special order won't arrive in time, or you missed Air Guitar Nation when it premiered at SXSW, you can still enjoy the fine, fine videos of champs with major "airness" after the jump, which is really the reason I wanted to post this... Myself, I play Air Theremin, but currently have very little in the way of competition.
