Wednesday, June 8th. Today we left Reno in a lite rain shower. Paulette worked from 8AM Tuesday to 5AM Wednesday so we got a late start. It was raining when we left A&W at 12:30. I drove and Danielle provided the entertainment while Paulette slept.
Danille was quoting scenes from the "Green Mile". "We're praying here, still praying. I am getting right with Jesus". Great stuff. When she is on she quotes whole scenes from movies, with spot on voices. My favorties are from Autin Powers.
I drove to Fallon and missed the 95 turn off. I asked for directions and we continued back to town.
The signs said the road was closed at Shurz, but we did not believe. Katie was driving by this time. Sure enough, the road was closed so we headed for 261. I slept in the co-pilot seat.
That seat is an E ticket. (The best rides at Disneyland whne I was a kid were E tickets). There is a feeling of no control. The RV would sway, I woke up and I was sure were we going in the ditch. Katie drove to 261 and 95 were Paulette took over.
Paulette drove to Tonopah and on to Beattie. The highlight was the four brothels we passed. We are out in the middle of the desert and the signs shout "Free Parking".
We dry camped at EddiesWorld in Beattie. The food was fare at best. In the casino lounge two women were singing off key to an empty room. Sad. There were a bunch of teenagers running around the Cafe celebrating the end of school. Double sad. I got to go to Disneyland, they get to go to Mimi's Cafe.
On Thursday morning Paulette and I went to breakfast. Our cashier from the night before was cashing out. Paulette wanted to see the Grand Canyon but I knew that was a long side trip. We have to cover 2300 miles in five days, so no side trips.
When we left LV I realized we would cross the Hoove Dam. No luck, it was closed to trucks, so we did not want to lose another 3 hrs if they turned us back.
Sorry, no pictures. Most are taken from the moving RV. We don't even stop for pictures.
